Weekly Round-Up 14th-21st February
Trials aplenty in Spain:
This week has been very successful for our players at our Spanish Football Academy with a myriad of trials being offered from various teams. As part of our Academy we offer daily training sessions as well as competitive games and this paid dividend when our players took the field to take on Sporting Campello. A brave and determined team performance led to them unfortunately losing 2-0 but there were some stand out individual performances which led to two of our ACFC Academy players being offered to train with the opposition with a view to sign. This was followed a few days later by yet another two Academy players being asked to train with Benidorm CF thanks to our head coach and scout who leads training sessions and recommends players to various teams with which we have a working relationship. These football trials in Spain, along with the large number of successful Academy Graduates playing for our partner club Alicante City FC, demonstrate that our Academy in Spain and the program we provide with daily football being played, as well as more exposure to clubs than in the UK for example, can really be a successful stepping stone to help players start on their football journey.
Soccer Smart Womens building relationships:
It has also been a busy week for Soccer Smart Womens with professional relationships being formed to provide the best opportunities for our players. One of the main partnerships we are strengthening is with American and Canadian colleges and coaches with a view to send over more players on Soccer Scholarships than ever before. Our USA Soccer Scholarships are already very successful but there is always room for more opportunities being provided and Soccer Smart plans to capitalise on that to give our Female players the best service and opportunities available. With these scholarships in mind, Soccer Smart Womens is also in the process of organising Football Trials across the UK to be able to spot Female players with the right mentality and ability to progress their football career and take advantage of the options that are out there for them.
Opportunities in Australia:
The season in Australia is about to get underway and this has proved to be very beneficial for Soccer Smart and the opportunities we provide to play soccer in Australia as a large number of our players are continuing to be signed by clubs down under. Whether players attend a UK trial day or a USA Soccer Combine, for the last 9 years Soccer Smart has sent over 500 players to Australia which makes us the leading provider of international players into the Australian leagues. This also gives us an unrivalled reputation amongst leagues and clubs and this reputation is emphasised by the number of success stories we are experiencing every week. But why is playing Soccer in Australia so appealing? Apart from the great weather and lifestyle previously mentioned, The appeal of playing soccer in Australia comes from the fact that the vast majority of players who head out to Australia, play soccer at a higher standard abroad and also earn a higher income.
