Weekly Round-Up 28th Feb – 6th March

ACFC goal rout

After a difficult start to 2020, Alicante City FC have found their rhythm in March by dominating their opponents on Saturday and will look to continue this fine form and steer clear of the relegation zone come the end of the season. Having not achieved a clean sheet all season, it was evident to see that the coach and players had been working on the defensive side of the game as they now have two consecutive games without conceding. This victory over the weekend was also great news for our ACFC Academy as Rhys Mason, a graduate from a Spanish Soccer Academy, was in the starting line-up and caused havoc all game with his attacking runs down the left flank, as well as not giving the opposing winger an inch of space all game. Another graduate, Brennan Joaquin, also made an appearance as he came on in the 60th min to shore up the centre of the midfield and serve as on outlet to keep possession of the ball. These players, as well as a number of other graduates in the first team squad, demonstrate the success we have of integrating our Academy players into semi-professional and professional football in Spain.

High demand in Australia

With the start of the Australian leagues on the horizon, Australian teams are well underway in their pre-season preparations to be able to get off to a good start. These preparations also provide opportunities for our Soccer Smart players to have the chance to go and play soccer in Australia. Teams are now seeing where their sides need improvement and depth and we have capitalised on this by continuing to send players down under with our large number of contacts in the oceanic continent. For the last 9 years Soccer Smart has sent over 500 players to Australia after seeing them in our UK football trials and USA soccer combines, which makes us the leading provider of international players into the Australian leagues. This also gives us an unrivalled reputation amongst leagues and clubs.

UK Trial date confirmed

Our UK based consultants have been working around the clock to finalise locations and dates for our UK football trials in 2020 with the first trial of the year scheduled for May 24th in Birmingham. Without a doubt, football trials are the number one way to be scouted and seen. Trials are held all around the world, even at the highest level, to be able to give players the chance to showcase their ability in front of scouts, agents, and representatives of football clubs. At Soccer Smart we understand this necessity to hold trials and give players a chance to be seen. we also go the extra mile during these football trials by live streaming games and recording them for future views, we then also help set up a highlight reel software which further exposes our players to clubs around the world. Once a trial day has been attended, we have the necessary contacts around the world to help place players into teams playing in semi-professional and professional leagues in countries such as Spain, Australia, Sweden, Finland, Gibraltar, and more!
