Have you ever wanted the experience of being a professional footballer? Do you think you have what it takes?

From the 20th – 30th January, ACFC Academy will be providing a 10 day training camp with our sister club Alicante City FC. This fantastic opportunity will give aspiring footballers the chance to play competitive matches, train with professional coaches, use our state-of-the-art facilities, while also soaking up the atmosphere of being part of a legitimate football team. With a proven track record of placing players in teams across the world, this is a chance to showcase your talent and determination.

International players contributing to a great win:

Alicante City FC recorded a brilliant 4-2 win against 11th placed Gorgos FC, placing them in 12th, just 1 point behind their aforementioned opponents. It was a resilient display from ACFC who went into the break at 1-1 after having taken the lead in the 14th minute. With 7 international players contributing to the win, it was arguably ACFC Academy graduate Alex Vedamikam who stole the show by playing the role of super sub to come on and instantly make an impact by scoring in the 70th minute to once again put the home team in front. And he wasn’t finished there, as he netted again in the 87th minute with the scores at 3-2 to put the result beyond doubt and secure the 3 points for his team.

This was a great win for a club whose ambition is to be a La Liga team within the next decade and the lads will be looking to carry this form into next week when they will face 7th placed A.D Betis Florida at 3pm next Sunday 15th.

Learning important lessons:

ACFC Under 23s were not as fortunate as the 1st team as they slumped to a 7-0 defeat against an impressive Sporting Dolores CF “A” side. Although this might be disheartening for the lads, it is a vital lesson to learn in the world of football. As the saying goes “you learn more from your failures than you do from your successes”. It is important to remember that this is a new team, competing against established sides in the division and a work in progress is bound to experience the pain of a convincing defeat. However, the international players are still blending into the squad and it’s only a matter of time until they gel and acquire the team cohesion needed for this level. Hopefully they will use this match as a platform in which to grow and come back more determined for future fixtures. They will be looking to bounce back when they face CF United Elche “A” next Sunday 15th.

Youngsters taste their 1st defeat:

ACFC Under 19s have enjoyed a phenomenal season so far, undefeated and brimming with confidence. With this in mind, it was only a matter of time until the bubble burst. Although the young guys put in a determined and committed performance, they were on the wrong side of a 4-2 defeat against CFI Alicante, their 1st of the season. However, this should be taken with a pinch of salt. This is an opportunity for the lads to grow as a team and with the help of an incredibly professional coaching staff, this experience will benefit the mentality of young players in the game and the international players will need this mentality just as much as their talent if they are to succeed in the world of football.
