James Miles
You as a player: For the last 18 months I have played as a striker in multiple formations such as 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2 and 4-3-3. This role has allowed me to demonstrate good hold up play and the opportunity to link up with midfield runners and overlapping full backs. This I believe has brought out my ability to keep hold of the ball with an emphasis on physical strength and timing of passes which requires good decision making. I believe I am technically very good and having worked on losing my markers, I am able to use my technical ability to work the ball effectively. I am a proven goal scorer at the current level and feel confident in and outside the box. I am definitely a team player and thrive on doing the best for the team. This has been seen in my versatility to play in a number of positions, such as the attacking midfield role, a box to box midfielder and I have also played on the left wing. My technical prowess has helped me to operate in all these positions. As well as the previous strengths, I believe I also have good set pieces (free kicks, penalties) and I believe I am also powerful and am good at driving/dribbling at the opposition, being able to draw fouls easily and helping my team move up the pitch. In addition to playing youth football I have also played in adult football where I was valued by the coaches and management team. Most importantly for me is my attitude and I live an active and healthy life. This has helped me progress in football over the last 12 months.

I have known James for two years in my role as Head Football Coach at
Marine Football Academy. In this time, I have assesed his development and progression over the 2 years.
As a striker , James has developed his hold up play and bringing players into the game during attacking phases. James has good 1st touch in all situtaions and is strong in holding defenders off, he has good awareness and brings players into the game with good decisions. James is comfortable under pressure and is strong running with the ball and has a trick in 1 v 1 attacking situations. James works hard for the team and looks to run in behind as well as showing for feet which is his big strength. James has good composure on the ball which helps in all aspects especially in front of goal where he can guide the ball into the net and score goals, James also can strike ball clean and has a good shot from distance too. James has played centre midfield also and can play as a 10 as he is a good passer of the ball and can uses the right type of pass for the distance and makes good decisions on the ball and his work rate and ethic for the team is of a hogh standard.
James defensively works hard for the team and is a willing worker to close and defend from the front.
He has as good athleticism and agility.
James is one of those players that coaches enjoy coaching. He possesses a strong work
ethic, winning mentality, and a desire to achieve high standards for himself and the
team. James is a confident player who is extremely coachable, and is well respected by
his teammates and the coaching staff.
As James enters his final year of schooling, he has also demonstrated his leadership ability on and off the pitch.
Personally, I rate James highly as a striker and would highly recommend him to
any US College.
Yours sincerely,

I have known James for the last 4 years. I was introduced to him in my role as a coach when he played at u-15 level. Since then he has played for me for 2 years at u-18 level for Maghull and has featured for the reserve side (open age) at the same club on several occasions.
During this time I have got to know the person as well as the player and in terms of his dedication and desire to learn and improve as a player and also as a young man I can not sing his praises enough. At a point in his life when so few young people of a similar age don’t know what they want or how to go about it James has a clear commitment to living a healthy lifestyle demonstrated by a consistent training regime by developing good habits. Such habits can be seen through a balanced temperament and his consideration for the needs of others as well as his own.
James is a fine young man who loves his football and is a big team player - this is also evident in all areas of his life.
Yours sincerely,
